| Elwierda is committed to Road Safety and would like to update our clients on the safety precautions and standards we apply as a company. Apart from the legal requirements laid down by Law, Elwierda is committed to the following regulations: |
| |
|
|
- Every year our coaches undergo a thorough Roadworthy Test, before any new licenses can be issued. This test is done independently from our own workshop by a government approved facility, and the proof of our coaches having passed this test, is the fact that there would be a valid license disk displayed on our coaches.
- In order to conform to legal requirements and to be able to operate our coaches, we need to have the necessary National Road Transport permits to allow us to operate a particular coach.
- Apart from a Heavy duty driver’s license (code EC), our well trained drivers must also have a valid ‘Public Drivers Permit’, which we check on an ongoing basis. This permit must be renewed every 24 months, and also include a medical examination.
- Internally our qualified workshop team work on a fixed and ongoing service schedule (full service every 10000 – 15000 km, pre-trip inspection on a daily basis), to secure the mechanical maintenance of our fleet;
- Over the years we have established a network of contacts to assists and provide a 24 hour breakdown and support service for any incidents or mechanical problems that may occur;
- The National speed limit on all coaches is 100km/h. Elwierda drivers are committed at all times to obey traffic regulations. All our coaches are fitted with a co-driver system which monitors the operation of all coaches individually.
